About Good Carma
At Good Carma, we believe HR should be as dynamic, adaptable, and people-focused as the organizations we support. That’s why we offer fractional HR services designed specifically for nonprofits and startups—giving you expert-level support without the full-time commitment.
Whether you need a strategic advisor to align your people strategy with business goals or hands-on HR support to streamline day-to-day operations, we bring creative, customized solutions that fit your unique needs. We know there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach—HR should work for you, not the other way around.
What sets us apart?
We’re not just HR pros—we’re former sales leaders, which means we understand that much of HR is about influence, storytelling, and buy-in. Whether it's selling a new strategy to the C-suite or getting employees on board with change, we know how to turn ideas into action.
We thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments where resourcefulness and resilience are key. Tight budgets? Existing processes that need reworking? We make it work—strategically, efficiently, and with a touch of creativity.
With Good Carma, you get more than HR support—you get a partner who helps you build sustainable success by empowering your people, streamlining operations, and driving growth. Let’s build something great together.
Meet the Founder - Cara Barnes
“Motivation comes from within — and I’m here to help you activate it.”
Cara Barnes, Chief People Officer and Founder of Good Carma Consulting LLC, is on a mission to make HR strategic, engaging, and human. With 15+ years in Business Development & Sales and 8+ years working with startups in Human Capital Management, she brings a rare blend of persuasion, problem-solving, and people-first strategy to the table.
A UC Berkeley graduate with degrees in Rhetoric and Gender & Women’s Studies, Cara has always been fascinated by the power of communication and human connection. Her approach to HR is anything but cookie-cutter; she thrives on crafting custom solutions that align business goals with workplace culture, ensuring that startups and nonprofits don’t just grow, but grow with purpose and intention.
Her background in sales gives her a unique edge in HR consulting—because at its core, HR is about getting buy-in. Whether it’s selling a vision to executives or rallying employees around change, Cara knows how to translate ideas into action and navigate challenges with creativity and resilience.
When she’s not helping startups and nonprofits build their dream teams, you’ll find Cara strumming her ukulele with the Aloha Uke Squad at local farmers markets and festivals or baking up a storm with her partner on the weekends.
